The Bottled Water Debate

The Bottled Water Debate

These days, there is much controversy over bottled water. The tree-huggers of the world are criticizing people for drinking bottled water when you can drink water from a tap. They say the plastic is bad for the environment.

Okay, we get it. But with today’s convenient recyclable boxes, it is much easier to separate your trash from your papers and plastics. If bottled water is recycled, it is not harmful to the earth, because it is used to create other products.

Bottled water is convenient. In our fast paced world, people need convenience. It is much easier to stop by a local convenient store to pick up a bottle of water, than to lug around a bottle you brought from home all day so you can fill it up with tap water. And that bottle you have to stick in your purse or briefcase all day just causes clutter. Forget going home and washing it out (otherwise it would breed bacteria, right?) That just takes more time! Time is of the essence, so why not just pop your empty bottle into a recycling box and be done with it?

I don’t care what people say, but the taste of tap water is sub-par to the crisp and refreshing taste of bottled water. In addition, the taste of bottled water is consistent. No matter which brand, whether it’s Fiji or Evian, you know it’s going to taste the same no matter where you purchase it, anywhere from Canada to Europe. Consistency is what people want, and consistency is what people like.

Tap water on the other hand, well, that’s a whole ‘nother story. Sure, there are places where tap water tastes relatively similar to bottled water. But then there are some places where you aren’t even allowed to drink the tap water, and places where the tap water smells like eggs and tastes like garbage. You know what I’m talking about.

Hey, if people are willing to spend the money on coffee each morning, why not spend their money on a bottle of water? There’s nothing like it to quench your thirst. You know when you buy it and water beads start to form off the bottled water, that’s how cold it is? And then you take that first sip, and the refreshing cold water slides down your throat, and gives you a shiver all over. You can feel the coolness of the delicious water pass through your insides, until suddenly, you’re thirst is cured.

A tap is the last place you’ll achieve this sort of experience. Bottled water on the other hand, you’ll get it every time.

Whether you’re just buying Bottled Water or outfitting your bathroom with a Shower Arm Brushed Nickel, you want to make sure you do as much research and due diligence before following through with a purchase or contract worker to ensure you’re happy with the end result. With so many products and options floating around, it can be difficult to make the right choice, but if you do enough looking around, then you’re bound to make the right one!

Needs Home Cleaning Magic? Use Janitorial Cleaning Products

Needs Home Cleaning Magic? Use Janitorial Cleaning Products

Lemon, baking soda and vinegar are some of the natural cleaning products you can find in your kitchen home. They are stand alone acids that do not require any additives to clean a surface from bacteria and germs. These products are readily available in your cupboard and can be stored for a long time. But there are some Natural Cleaning products that come in cans and bottles that can be twice effective with none of its environmental hazards.

Did you know that Janitorial Cleaning products used in establishments such as hotels, buildings and hospitals have already gone green? They come in organic materials and ingredients that cause less harm in the environment. As strong as they clean, they are effective and cause lesser harm compared to the traditional chemical based cleansers that are offered at a cheap price.

I cannot recommend you to use a lot of lemon, vinegar and baking soda to treat your bacteria problems because they do not come cheap nowadays so going the manufactured, organic based cleaners are the better way to go. Not only it will clean your house but also make it smell nicer than the scent of a clean room with vinegar. Personally, I do not like the smell of vinegar. Its scent is like a stinky armpit that sweated for the whole afternoon but as stinky as vinegar can be, it cleans very well.

I remember my dad uses vinegar to soak our clothes to get rid of the stains of our clothes for 2 hours and right after, he will put loads of soap. He uses that technique in our kitchen marble floors too. It cleans yeah but if you want the package of shine, smell and cleanliness all in one bottle, just like what you see around hotels and big establishments then you should use Janitorial Cleaning Products.

You can find them in the expanse of the World Wide Web; there are website that rate the best from the worst, the most powerful from the weakest and the most cost effective from the expensive ones. It is best to consult building administrators that you know for the best that they have used and for sure it is cost effective because before they even used these products, a bidding process already took place.

Now even if you buy these products it cannot magically do the work for you without the help of human hands to apply it. That’s where efficient house cleaners come in. I remember we had the most effective house help that we ever had. She cleaned everything to a tee, never left a speck of dirt but it was not enough. It only got sustained for hours.

So what I am saying is it goes both ways, a very good type of cleaning product cannot be the best without the help of efficient human hands, same goes with the most efficient hands that has no product in hand. Based to say you got to have a combination of both. As natural as lemon baking soda and vinegar can be, manufactured cleaning products made by human efforts and used by human hands can be more efficient than being a natural active ingredient.

Buildings have building administrators that use Janitorial cleaning products and they usually buy them as wholesale cleaning products because you can save a lot from buying in bulk.

Discover the Basic Elements Needed in a Home Made Water Filter

Discover the Basic Elements Needed in a Home Made Water Filter

Suppose that you are a student in the local Middle School. Suppose that your teacher has asked you to enter a project in the upcoming Science Fair. Unless you are a technical wizard, you do not want to try making a robot. You do not have enough time to observe the growth of plants, plants that have been subjected to different conditions. What should your project be? Fortunately, even those with limited engineering skills can, in a limited amount of time, construct a home made water filter.

Even a crude home designed one can demonstrate the concept behind the most sophisticated home water filter. Even a crude home made water filter can transform muddy, fowl-tasting water into clear, good-tasting water. The construction of a home made water filter offers an advantage not available to a budding scientist who decides to conduct a controlled experiment.

As long as the student/scientist uses the proper materials, the resulting filter should function almost perfectly. Granted, it will not be able to remove any bacteria that might be in the water. Aside from that, a home constructed filter can keep those who depend on that filter supplied with ready access to clean water.

A student who planned to make a crude sort of filter would first need to obtain a plastic bottle, a bottle with a cap that could be punctured. The student would also need a thin tube, such as a straw, cotton, large and small pieces of gravel, and bags of both coarse and fine sand.

At this point the student is almost ready to assemble a crude filter. Three other items should be added to the components in the filter. Those items are a coffee filter, a jar and some muddy water.

A filter must take-in water at one end and release filtered water at the opposite end. The student needs to remove the bottom from the plastic bottle, to insert a straw through a hole in the top of that bottle, and then to invert the entire apparatus (bottle and straw together).

The inverted bottle is inserted in the opening of the jar. Cotton should be the first item in the inverted bottle. On top of the cotton go a layer of fine sand, and then a layer of coarse sand. On top of the sand go a layer of small gravel, and then a layer of large gravel.

The student should cut the coffee filter to fit over the gravel. Once the coffee filter covers the gravel, then the student can pour muddy water into his or her crude filter.

The student has made a functioning home made water filter. That home made water filter should transform muddy water into clear water. Some instructions suggest that cotton does not hold-up well in the crude type of filter described above. Polyester quilt padding can be used in place of cotton.

Moreover, the home made water filter obtained by those who follow the above instructions does not have the ability to remove bacteria from the water. Those who want to drink the filtered water need to add a few drops of chlorine to that water.

There are special media that can be used to remove bacteria from water. In the absence of such media, a student might consider using the type of sponges found in commercial floor scrubbers. A pond enthusiast could thus make a useful home made water filter, one that could remove organic matter.

The pond enthusiast has special needs, needs not found in the typical home. In a typical home, the residents simply want a chance to enjoy clean, pure, great-tasting water. Activated carbon filters with ion exchange and micron filtration are the ideal components for a home filter.

While a home made water filter can never be classed as an ideal filter, it still brings the residents in a home closer to where they want to be. It facilitates the acquisition of water that can keep the residents safe from a majority of unwanted contaminants.

Of course, the ideal water filter, the one with activated carbon, would produce the safest type of drinking water.

Stainless steel water bottles: What are the advantages of using stainless steel water bottles

Stainless steel water bottles: What are the advantages of using stainless steel water bottles

When it comes to buying a drink bottle there are many alternatives, most of which can be compared and bought online, but the most popular type of drink bottle that is increasingly being purchased is the stainless steel water bottles. There is a long list of advantages for using stainless steel water bottles, including durability and reusability, but the real benefits of stainless steel water bottles become apparent when they are compared to plastic drink bottles and aluminium water bottles.

Top quality manufacturers of reusable drink bottles have begun designing and manufacturing stainless steel water bottles to replace plastic and aluminium drink bottle alternatives that are currently on the market. Stainless steel, and particularly 304 grade (or 18/8), is one of the most hygienic materials available, so hygienic in fact that the same material is often used in the manufacture of surgical equipment, kitchen utensils and now drink bottles. Stainless steel water bottles therefore have the advantage of reducing the risk of water contamination that is apparent with plastic and aluminium water bottle alternatives, through the potential leaching of BPA and other chemicals. Stainless steel also provides bacteria resistance, which means that individuals concerned about their health can now purchase a water bottle that is lightweight, durable and free from chemical leaching.

Water stored in stainless steel water bottles is highly effective in retaining the flavour and purity of the drink, which is not necessarily the case with plastic or aluminium water bottle alternatives. In aluminium drink bottles for example, an epoxy resin inner lining is baked on at 400 Degrees Celsius in order to prevent the aluminium from contaminating the water. This epoxy resin however contains many chemicals that are themselves, at risk of contaminating water over time, as they eventually degrade and leach into the water. Similar to plastic these many different types of chemicals are consumed by drinking the contaminated water, which over time increases the risk of affecting your health, particularly if the drink bottle is used on a regular basis, such as daily or over a long period of time.

Given a similar weight, durability and price to plastic water bottles and aluminium drink bottle alternatives, it is apparent that stainless steel water bottles should not be overlooked when buying a drink bottle. Their superior material qualities make it a better alternative for reducing the risk of water contamination and the need to effectively maintain it. They are proof that drink bottles are not all the same, and should be researched and chosen appropriate considerations.

Are Portable Water Bottle Filters A Scam?

Are Portable Water Bottle Filters A Scam?

With each passing day, more news stories and scientific reports come out about how bad bottled water is for us. We wound up spending millions for something we usually received for free. ABC News show “20/20” famously sent famous brands of bottled water to a lab and they discovered that the contents were identical to tap water. The plastic bottles are also found to be not biodegradable. So, are portable water bottle filters the same bill of bad goods?

What are They?

Portable water bottle filters are found mostly in sporting goods, camping and RV supply stores. They look just like a usual plastic water bottle – only they have an intricate logo and a small unit inside containing water filtration media. These are sturdy bottles to be used again and again. You definitely don’t want to use these just once, especially since the average price is – and that does not include replacement cartridges.

Many times, portable water bottle filters are made of a plastic that is not derived from hard to decay petroleum but from corn oil or other botanical materials that are biodegradable. Others feature designs that don’t have many problems leaking, which stops any waste of the precious water inside.

Some feature a filtration media that’s in a plastic unit while others are portable ceramic water bottles. The ceramic bottles will usually be more expensive than the plastic, sometimes three or four times as expensive. These bottles will look more like small pumps or fire extinguishers rather than the typical water bottle.

How Safe is the Water?

There are pros and cons to using portable water bottle filters. The pros are that it can filter out dirt, even asbestos and bacteria like salmonella. They also are lightweight and can be easily packed with you. They are also far less expensive than many other kinds of water filtration systems.

But you can’t live on strange bodies of water strained through a portable water bottle filter. For one thing, the bottle only holds about as much water as a soda can. You need to keep refilling all of the time. Also, many dangerous chemicals are much smaller than the filtration media can handle and will slip into your water anyway.

If you are taking a hike, twist your ankle and have to wait a couple of days for help next to a trickling stream, then a portable water bottle filter is better than nothing at all. But for more practical use in camping, you should boil your water and let it cool before drinking it.

quot;PET bottles" bottle of anti-pollution improvements program-PET, beverage bottles, contaminated – Food Industry

quot;PET bottles" bottle of anti-pollution improvements program-PET, beverage bottles, contaminated – Food Industry

Many consumers have encountered such a situation: open PET beverage bottles and found a dark bottle with visible mold, it is disgusting. How to improve the mouth of pollution in the study, this paper obtained the national patents improvement program.

Existing bottle with a threaded resealable plastic beverage bottles, the main material is PET, bottle mainly HDPE, location are sealed bottle top, and according to the size of the pressure bottle were taken in different gasket, sealing ring, sealing ring inside the plug or seal in combination with the seal of the sealing plug within the form, which sealed the different forms of performance only to improve the sealing effect.

Position as only the bottle sealed, threaded part is not sealed, from production to consumer consumption of the process, many factors will result in polluting part of bottle thread, such as nutritious beverages in the beverage filling process splash to the bottle screw part, the role of bacteria and air, the mouth of the bottle thread appear moldy, the phenomenon of the accumulation of stain; or adverse environmental transport and storage will lead to a clean bottle thread pollution, such as selling drinks on the ice when the long-term water.

Many consumers will experience open bottle after bottle thread Department found dirt, because bottle has been opened, complaints of limited, had nothing with this. From the drinking habits of view, most consumers drink

Plastic bottled drinks are not straw when it is included directly in the mouth bottle, with screw Department of pollutants will enter the body, this phenomenon is especially true in children.

In fact, many beverage manufacturers have to face this problem, but also adopt various methods to solve, such as control filling volume and reduce the filling to cover delivery of the shock, before capping the bottle washing, etc. However, the problem still occurs, and the various methods currently can not be solved, such as hot filling and overflow level required mouthful is a contradiction. Such defective products sometimes more than 1%, the manufacturer often because of this problem within recovery of product, while in the process of transportation and sale of pollution are difficult to control and ultimately flow to the hands of the consumer products are many complaints about seriously affect the product’s reputation.

Defect analysis from the above view, the problem is not sealed bottle screw part, from the market looking for food packaging, consumers have some protection to the parts of the design of direct contact, such as eight-treasure porridge on the plastic cover, but the outside packaging is added, the sealing effect of the general, but also costs more, in the plastic beverage bottle has no such protective packaging. Then there would not be a simple and cost too much packaging? We propose a practical and feasible.

Principle from the sealing point of view, the above-mentioned sealed plastic beverage bottles are mainly two types in the top cap gasket, sealing gasket has a shape and added (2 cover), with second within the sealed bottle plug. Gasket by bottle to the top of the gasket seal from the role of the extrusion deformation; in Cyprus relies on the external diameter of the inner diameter of the interference with the bottle sealed with the role play. Due to different principles, gasket cap can withstand a large bottle pressure, present a variety of beverages in plastic bottles are used, inside the plug cap on the number of relatively high pressure with no or less in the bottle beverage varieties such as hot-fill beverage most current, within the plug with its sealing diameter and inner diameter with the bottle, the material within the plug.

See from the production process, within the plug cap process is simple, low cost, small changes to re-tighten the seal, so widely used in non-carbonated beverages. Principles of its seal, the seal and the cap is not the final tightening torque between the actual production of capping the final tightening torque required only to prevent accidental lid back loose. Therefore, we can by improving the sealing plug within the mouth of the bottle to get the required thread seal.

The above-mentioned principle of the two seal species in the structure are used to, drink bottle with the bottom sealed bottle male boss, cap and seal within the wall forming the contact surface of convex sets coincide, and in The contact surface with air sealing rings, gas cap seal ring with one injection

Bottled Water Quality ? Discover The Shocking Truth Here

Bottled Water Quality ? Discover The Shocking Truth Here

There’s no doubt about it, bottled water quality is definitely not as good as you may think it is and can cost up to 1,900 times more than your tap supply. Discover just how bad it has become and how to save hundreds of dollars a year using pure and healthy water.

The bottled water industry seems to have done a good job of brainwashing us that the bottled water quality is good and represents good value. Increasingly, there have been more and more concerns about its safety despite the fact it costs anywhere from to a gallon, and here’s why.

A team of scientists found that 70% of popular bottled water brands available in shops had high levels of bacteria. They stated that while they expected to find some, they were shocked at the alarmingly high amount.

These high levels of bacteria could pose a risk for vulnerable people such as pregnant women, infants, young children and the elderly.

Part of the problem and why bottled water quality is so low, is that there are very few regulations governing it unless it is transported over state lines. This means that 70% of all bottled water sold in the US has little or no regulations to control the quality.

You should also think about the environmental impact they have with over 60 million plastic bottles disposed of every day in the US. Bottled water also takes 2000 times more energy to produce and deliver which is not surprising when you think about the manufacturing, petrol costs and emissions that are involved.

Recent research has shown that most bottled water comes from the same source as your tap supply, despite the advertizing to the contrary!

So how can you have healthy bottled water for only around 10 cents a gallon?

Home water filtration is the easiest, most effective and most economical way to have safe, healthy water for you and your family as tap water leaves a lot to be desired too.

If you use your own bottles and fill them at home to take with you, you can be sure of the quality and the fact it is cheap.

The best home filters using carbon block with sub micron filtering can remove 99% of all the main contaminants like chlorine, lead, VOCs and THMs to keep you safe.

Now you know more about bottled water quality, you can see it makes sense to avoid it and bottle your own instead.

water bottle with filter

water bottle with filter

There are many types of water bottles with filters around these days.  Some are meant to actually aid people in areas that do not have abundant sources of clean drinking water.  These types of water bottles with filters are called The Lifesaver bottle.  This bottle’s filter can be interchangeable and can purify between 4,000 and 6,000 liters. It filters out objects such as viruses, bacteria and heavy metal.   This type of water bottle with a carbon filter does not require chemicals to clean the water.   The process of cleaning the water with this bottle only takes 20 seconds, and filters 1.5 pints of water in that time.

The Lifesaver bottle does have its’ limits, and will no longer clean water once this limit has been reached.  The Lifesaver bottle has also been used by the military.  A much larger of the Lifesaver bottle, which is called the Lifesaver Jerrycan, uses the same filtering process. This can is able to filter 10,000 to 20,000 liters of water.  One jerrycan filter is able to provide plenty of water for a family of four for a three year span.  In 2007, the LifeSaver bottle was tested and was found to completely filter out bacteria and viruses.  This is a great scientific achievement that will allow people in disaster areas, access to clean water, which is of upmost importance. You can also use a water bottle with a filter to save money and reduce waste.  You can save money by not buying expensive bottled water and  in the meantime, reduce plastic bottle waste.  Most of these systems are not as complex as the Lifesaver bottle.

The Truth About Bottled Water ? What Are You Buying?

The Truth About Bottled Water ? What Are You Buying?

It’s unbelievable how the bottled water fad has invaded the beverage mainstream and conquered most water fountains.  Most of us are willing to spend over a dollar just to have pure, clean water; after all, water is essential for life and health.  However, like many you might be asking “Is it really worth it?”  I certainly have.

I was shocked to learn that the regulations for bottled water are less stringent than that from public taps.  In fact, the FDA has limited power in validating and regulating the quality of these beverages.  While some states and local jurisdictions have required reports and certifications (such as California), water companies often merely restrict their beverages within the borders.  Worst yet, there are no federal laws prohibiting the presence of bacteria within these bottled drinks, unlike tap water.  According to a four-year case study by the NRDC, having tested 1,000 bottles from 103 brands, it was found that a great deal of them contained bacteria and various contaminants.

The bottled water industry racks in billion dollars in the U.S. alone annually and is perhaps the most profitable beverage on the market.  In actuality, it can cost anywhere from 240 to 10,000 times more than tap water, for at best the same quality.  Put more directly, we are paying for the plastic, shipping, and marketing for water no more pure than that out of a faucet.

An often overlooked element of this “pure beverage” is its effect on the environment.  Tens of millions of plastic bottles accumulate in the landfills daily, only 14% of which are actually recycled.  In addition, each required as much as 2,000 times more energy to provide the same water as that from the tap.  Some organizations and governmental bodies have already implemented anti-bottled drinking water measures, anywhere from added taxes to outright banning.

So there you have it, in a nutshell, there is no evidence water contained in a plastic bottle is any safer or purer than that of tap water.  If neither provide comfort in consuming water what is one to do?  An alternate many are now considering is home water filtration.  Some food for thought, consider and compare some of the home water filters out there.  While many make bold claims, there are some that promise what they preach.  The facts speak for themselves.  After all, if quality water is going to cost extra, it “pays” to find the best possible product!
