DODOcase Partners with Mohawk to Launch DODOnotes: The First iPhone Compatible Paper Notebook

DODOcase today announced the launch of DODOnotes, an entirely new product category that for the first time re-envisions the notebook to include the iPhone. In partnership with Mohawk, North America’s largest privately-owned manufacturer of fine papers, DODOcase continues to take a unique approach to its product offerings by blending modern technology with traditional craftsmanship to meet practical modern needs.  Watch the DODOnotes launch video:

DODOnotes offers the classic DODOcase book-like exterior style and features a custom die-cut ‘nest’ on the cover with a colorful elastic strap to hold an iPhone in place.  Inside, the DODOnotes interior notebook features 30 tear-out pages of Mohawk Superfine paper, the finest paper made today, with unmatched quality, consistency and uniformity. Superfine has inspired writers, artists and designers for decades with its superb formation, lush tactility and archival, timeless appeal. Superfine is manufactured with the highest quality pulps and is soft to the touch, clean, and ideal as a smooth writing surface.  Completely made in the USA, the paper in DODOnotes interior notebook is manufactured in Mohawk’s New York state paper mills, where generations of papermakers have honed their craft since 1931, with the book-bound exterior and all assembly taking place in DODOcase’s San Francisco bookbindery using traditional craft techniques. A true collaboration, DODOnotes innovative design introduces an entirely new type of paper notebook.

“By partnering with Mohawk we are re-envisioning the relationship between tradition and technology,” said Patrick Buckley, CEO, creator, and co founder of DODOcase. “With DODOnotes we combine the best of both the digital and analog worlds into one object: the first paper notebook designed to work specifically with your iPhone.”

DODOnotes exemplifies the evolution of accessories to meet today’s modern needs – with fine paper and technology working as complements to serve as the go-to phone accessory for meetings, travel, shopping lists, quick reminder noting, and more.

“DODOnotes is proof that technology and fine paper can not only co-exist, but work together to make life easier,” said Bart Robinson, VP marketing, Mohawk. “Mohawk believes that the future of communication is not just about pixels or paper, but how they can complement each other. Our collaboration with DODOcase on the launch of DODOnotes is an example of the marriage of tradition and technology.”

DODOnotes is available in flare red bookcloth exterior with yellow elastic, cobalt blue bookcloth exterior with red elastic, or classic black Moroccan bookcloth with black elastic for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5, and coming soon for Samsung Galaxy S3 as well as other popular devices.  Sold individually for $13.95, DODOnotes is available for purchase at and will be revealed to the public for the first time at the  National Stationery Show (Booth #2866), May 19-22, 2013, in New York City.

After 54 Years, a New Name: Central Container is Now Central Package and Display

Central Container Corp, a leading provider of customized packaging and Point of Purchase Display solutions, located in Minneapolis, MN rebrands itself as Central Package and Display.

Jan. 1, 2013 saw the introduction of the new name and logo, intended to communicate more directly the markets Central serves, and products and service solutions  provided to their target audience.

In business since 1959, and under current private ownership by James E. Haglund since 1975, the Central name itself is well established and respected, and the company intends to build on that reputation.

The rebranding effort might more accurately be described as a brand evolution, reflecting Central’s continued efforts at investing in equipment, facilities and human resources geared to today’s changing and evolving economy. The new tag line  “ Delivering More Than  Packaging” reflects Central’s commitment to continually improving the Customer’ s experience.

“In the markets we serve, success depends on diverse capability, driven by innovative design, and executed with outstanding customer service.  With the new name Central Package and Display, we’re emphasizing our core competencies of protective packaging, consumer packaging, and point of purchase (POP) displays, better describing who we are and what we do.”  says James Haglund, CEO.

When Jim Haglund first acquired Central, with a loan from a brother, the company was a small sheet plant producing primarily brown boxes and struggling to compete in a market place dominated by integrated suppliers who grew trees, made paper, and converted finished goods.   Mr. Haglund had a vision to build a company based on service, integrity, and an ability to answer customer’s needs with a tool box full of a wide range of materials and providing a level of service the “big boys” couldn’t provide.

Fast turn around of  designs, production, and warehousing  and   Just In Time (JIT) delivery were well met in the late 70’s  by companies evolving in the new world of technology,  and those seeking streamlined supply lines aimed at reducing inventory.  Today, Central is well positioned as a Supply Chain Partner and a practitioner of Lean Manufacturing concepts, providing options and supporting  companies large and small.   Designing and producing engineered packaging, Point Of Purchase (POP) displays, set up and folding cartons, and a full range of standard corrugated packaging and cartons.

Go Green With Eco-Friendly Sports Bottles

Go Green With Eco-Friendly Sports Bottles

Medical professionals and health care experts always tell us to hydrate and that is to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Most of us are all on the go whether at school or at work and even at home. Most people today are always on the move here and there so it’s easy for us to not drink the recommended amount of water daily. That is why most people carry water bottles with them so that they can quench their thirst even while waiting in line at the bank or at the supermarket or just sitting in the office. Today, water bottles not only come in trendy designs and cool utility functions, they are also made to be eco-friendly. Eco-friendly sports bottles are increasingly becoming popular as they are reliable, durable and green compared to plastic water bottles.

Some of the most trusted brands in eco-friendly sports bottles is Nalgene. Nalgene is a US made, reasonably priced sport bottle that is ever popular among sportsmen women, as well as among office workers and soccer moms. Nalgene has a new line of sports bottles that are BPA free. Among the bottles, the Tritan Wide-Mouth Everyday bottle is the hottest selling in the line and it can hold enough water to keep you hydrated on a coast-to-coast flight or for a full day at the office. The mouth of the bottle is large enough to accommodate ice cubes and Nalgene sells a variety of accessories such as pop-up sports cap. The bottle retails are .50.

Another innovative design in sports bottles that are environmentally friendly are the Camelbak Better bottles. These bottles are designed to not spill thanks to its “flip, bite-n-sip” design, even when the flip lock is left open. These types of bottles are ideal for situations where there is a lot of movement such as driving or drinking while on the move. The Camelbak is also made with BPA free plastic and has a sporty design which comes with a bottle-top loop that can be clipped with a carabiner to a backpack. Consumers have a choice in colors and patterns such as argyle and hounds tooth for a more urban feel. This bottle retails for to depending on its liter.

Some companies have taken the humble sports bottle to a whole new level by incorporating hip designs and cool extra features and the Sigg Traveler takes the cup. Sigg, is considered hip as it is the popular choice among celebrities and eco-stars such as the Dave Matthews Band. Sigg is from a Swiss company and they have been in the business of making lightweight, recycled-aluminum bottles for a hundred years. The Sigg is lightweight and has a coating that prevents aluminum from secreting the contents. Up to its name, the Sigg Traveler is uber- trendy and lightweight and comes two sizes and a variety colors. The designs range from classic to simple steel. Unlike the Nalgene Tritan Wide Mouth, the Sigg Traveller has a small opening that cant fit in ice cubes but is great for warm beverages as the sports bottle is metal. Sigg offers a carrying pouch and even a new hot-beverage Sigg as well as a specially designed brush and cleaning tablets for cleaning. The price retails at .99 (0.6 liter); .99 (1 liter).
