Leather Conference Folders & Promotional Bottled Water – Why They Make Great Promotional Gifts

Leather Conference Folders & Promotional Bottled Water – Why They Make Great Promotional Gifts

At your next Conference will you target your product or service by giving delegates a Leather Conference Folder or do you target the delegate’s personal care with Promotional Bottled Water? This article discusses both possibilities and then leaves the choice up to you.

When a delegate receives information on the conference they have been invited to it sets the level of expectation immediately. If you contact the person via E.Mail with a PDF map that could be acceptable. However if the information arrives by post along with a relevant Promotional Gift such as a good quality road map or pen then it makes it much more personal. It gives the delegate the impression that they matter and that they can look forward to more pleasant surprises upon arrival. Perception is vital so you must get it right at the outset.

Upon arrival at the event the delegate can expect to pick up a bag with relevant information on where to go, what to do etc. But imagine if when they arrive that the information is presented in a Leather Conference Folder with their initials engraved upon the outer cover? All of a sudden this person feels that they are a valued individual and not just part of the crowd. You can see this for yourself at the next event you attend. Watch what attendees do with a plastic carrier bag, it is usually dropped at the feet of the recipient whilst they remove their coats or sign in. It is then left lying around or discarded entirley. Compare that then to the person whose personalised Leather Conference Folder is treated with care and respect. The folder will be put down carefully on a surface and it will be studied carefully as if it were an important item.

By catering for the attendees personal needs you once again demonstrate a personal touch. Giving each delegate Promotional Bottled Water tells them that you know they will probably get thirsty and you care enough about them to solve that problem. Unlike a pen or keyring this really is all about them and their personal care and not about you and your product. That said of course by branding the Promotional Water Bottle you achieve two wins for the price of one.

So which one you choose is completely up to you. Do you use the Leather Conference Folder or the Promotional Bottled Water? You will be aware that either of these items work well in delivering your message to its intended audience. The water will almost certainly be consumed on site so could be considered as a short term Promotional Item whereas the personalised Leather Conference Folder will definitely be taken back to the office or home and valued as great quality Business Gift.

Personally I believe you should give them both options but then as a Promotional Merchandise supplier that probably won’t surprise your will it?

Paul Beirne has been in the Promotional Clothing business for more than 20 years and is Sales Director of http://www.btcgroup.co.uk/about.html This UK based company is the largest privately owned manufacturer of Promotional Clothing and Promotional Merchandise in the UK.

Plastic Bags – How They Can Help You Organize Your Kitchen

Plastic Bags – How They Can Help You Organize Your Kitchen

Plastic bags are not just for bringing home items from the market anymore, but they also help organize our homes. The home is the place where you and your family should spend your precious moments enjoying each other’s company. It can sometimes be very depressing to see that your home has been lost to all the unavoidable clutter, leaving your family disorganized. It is our responsibility to keep our homes clean and well-organized; not only for us, but for the sake of our household. One area of your home that can really get messy is the kitchen, which can be organized with the use of plastic bags.

The kitchen is where you prepare your family’s food. It is very important to keep it well-organized because the kitchen is normally the first place that house pests like roaches and rats attack, mainly because of all the spoilage of perishable goods. Here is where you can utilize these items to your advantage. The first thing that you can do is to gather all of your plastic bags together in one place, say, on your cupboard. The key is for you not to get drowned by all of these items that can really clutter up your kitchen space. Put them in a place where you can easily see them. Separate the big bags from the small ones so you can just easily pick from any of the two groups to suit whatever you are looking for at the time.

The smaller and more airtight plastic bags are better for storing food that can easily be spoiled. You can even use this as a container for your children’s snack or packed lunch for school. You can also tape labels on them so you can better categorize the food that is stored in the airtight plastic container. The bigger bags are great for use as trash bags or for a way to group together all of your other kitchen clutters like bottles, cans and others small things.
You can then easily store all of this clutter away that you have grouped into individual categories per plastic bag into a storage place. You can also use these big bags as a way to protect your kitchen supplies that are not in use and are stored away from unnecessary house pest damage. You can regain control of your home and especially your kitchen with a little organization skill using plastic bags.

You can also bring some organization to your office by using plastic mailing bags and resealable plastic bags.

Discount vacation packages Do They Exist

Discount vacation packages Do They Exist

If you are interested in taking a summer vacation, but you are concerned with the cost, you are not alone. A large number of individuals and families wish to take a summer vacation, but, due to the cost of many, most are unable to do so. What many individuals and families fail to consider is discount vacation packages.

Discount vacation packages do exist, but to many they are only a myth. There are just some individuals who believe that there is no such thing as a discount summer vacation. If they do believe that discount vacations exist, many assume they are only to low-quality destinations. If you are interested in taking a summer vacation, you are encouraged not to believe this popular myth.

To find discount vacation packages, all you have to do is a little bit of research. Once you start looking, you will likely see that discount vacation packages are obtainable, for even the most popular summer vacation destinations. Discount vacation packages are obtainable thanks to vacation packages, online coupons, price reductions sites and discount vacation packages membership from Resorts 360.

All inclusive vacation packages are one of the most popular ways that you or your family can save money when taking a summer vacation. These packages are most often available through a resort. Theme park resorts, golf resorts, and beach resorts, all around the world, are likely to offer summer vacation packages. These packages may be considered all-inclusive or they may just cover a number of vacation accommodations. Vacation packages can easily be found online or by speaking to a professional travel agent.

When it comes to discount vacation packages, most individuals receive a discount in the form of a price reduction. Price reductions are often used as a last attempt to increase the number of vacationers at popular hotels, restaurants, theme parks, or beaches. If you are searching for upfront discounts, in the form of price reductions, they can easily be found online or by directly contacting a hotel, restaurant, or theme park.

In addition to price reductions used to lure in additional vacationers, many popular vacation destinations offer price reductions to vacationing families. Instead of paying full price for your children, you may be able to receive a substantial discount for them. These discounts are often found at vacation resorts, hotels, and theme parks. The cost of a family discount will depend on the destination. However large or small the discount, many families enjoy saving the money.

Online coupons are a great way to obtain a discount on your next summer vacation. A large number of discount vacation packages offer online coupons, as well as offline coupons. Most internet users have the option of requesting a coupon booklet or they can obtain printable vacation coupons. The only downside to using coupons is that you must remember to take them with you when you set off to reach your vacation destination. Without them, you may be required to pay full price for all of your used services.

While discount vacation packages are obtainable, it is important to note that not all destinations can be vacationed at for a low price. Despite what you may believe, many of the most popular vacation destinations offer valuable savings and discounts to travelers. Popular summer vacation destinations that can be visited for a low price include, but should not be limited to, the Caribbean, Mexico, Myrtle Beach, Bush Gardens, Six Flags, Disneyland, or Disney World. Many times, you will end up paying more to vacation at destination that is not as popular.

When searching for a low-cost summer discount vacation packages, you can search using a number of methods. If you already have a vacation destination in mind, you can search for discounts being offered in or around your intended vacation spot. If you have yet to select a destination, you can examine the discounts available and then make your decision. Whichever method you select, you are sure to find valuable discounts that can be used on your next vacation.

Selling Items Online? How to Ensure They Arrive Safely

Selling Items Online? How to Ensure They Arrive Safely

Today, with the influx of popular auction sites like eBay, which has 48 million active users, people are buying and selling a variety of extraordinary items not found in your local shopping mall.

From cars to designer shoes to autographed memorabilia, you never know what you can purchase or sell on eBay until you take a look for yourself. In Arlington, Texas, a woman sold a 7-foot-tall, 60-pound plastic replica of Jar Jar Binks from “Star Wars: Episode One – The Phantom Menace.” She acquired it from her brother-in-law, who won it in a grocery store contest. It was sold on eBay to a Star Wars fan in Yakima, Washington, to add to the man’s huge toy collection.

But selling that one-of-a-kind item is easy compared to figuring out how you are going to get it shipped. To this end, a mutually beneficial alliance has been evolving between online auction users and Pak Mail Centers around the country.

As the popularity of buying and selling small, large, unique, awkward and precious items online grows, so does the need for professional packing and shipping services to help the seller get the goods to their destination as promised and in one piece.

When it was time to ship Jar Jar off to its new owner, for

instance, Pak Mail created a custom-built wooden shipping crate and considered it business as usual. In fact, Pak Mail has shipped such items as church pulpits, murphy beds, golf paraphernalia, birthday cakes, a manhole cover and even a dinosaur egg.

Pak Mail Centers offer an extended menu of services including specialty shipping, crating and custom packing as well as international shipping. They also provide estimated shipping costs for most items, which allows an online seller to know ahead of time how much to factor in for shipping before listing an item for auction.

Bottled Or Tap Water – Are They Safe?

Bottled Or Tap Water – Are They Safe?

You have to drink something, but when it comes to choosing bottled water or tap water, it can be a tough choice, unless you have a point-of-use or home purifier.  So, actually, you have three choices.  Home purification is the best of the three.  Here are the reasons why.

    Environmental Concerns About Water Safety

Plastic bottles are a major source of pollution.  They are not biodegradable.  Scientists can only estimate at how long it would take for a bottle to finally degrade.  They expect it would take thousands of years.

Petroleum or petrochemicals are used in the production of the bottles.  Gasoline and diesel fuels are used to transport them.  Environmental groups estimate that drinking a 16 ounce bottle is equivalent to pouring about 5 ounces of crude oil on the ground.

During the production of the bottles, a great deal of freshwater is wasted.  If you drink a 16 ounce bottle, it is equivalent to throwing away 48 ounces of freshwater.  So, bottling companies waste two of our precious natural resources.

    Health Concerns over Water Quality

When freshwater is packaged in bottles and shipped to the stores, some of those chemicals seep into the liquid.  The danger depends on the type chemical.  They could cause an increased cancer risk, birth defects or hormonal imbalances.

Either bottled water or tap water can contain hazardous chemicals.  In many cases, the bottling companies use the local supply as their source.  Basically, they are bottling your own water and reselling it to you, but that’s more of an economic concern.

Either one can contain cysts, which are a cause of waterborne illnesses that can be deadly to at-risk individuals.  The EPA advises those that are at-risk to install a purifier certified to filter down to at least one micron.  They say that it is not wise to trust the bottles or your faucet.

    Economics or Safety?

When it comes to the cost of bottled water or tap water, you are probably already paying for one of them.  It really doesn’t make sense to pay for the other.  The Environmental Working Group estimates that a family of four can save over 00 per year if they stopped buying bottled beverages and installed a purifier on their kitchen sink.

The group feels that a purifier is necessary in most, if not all,  of the homes in the United States, because of chemicals like chlorine, perchlorate and THMs.

Doesn’t the Bottling Companies Purify The Water?

If you are trying to choose bottled water or tap water, you are probably concerned about purity.  You might wonder if the purification systems used by a bottling company are better than what you could do at home.

The truth is that some companies do nothing to purify.  They bottle directly from a faucet.

Those facilities that do purify use reverse osmosis, which will not remove the chemicals that cause health problems.  In fact, the purification method used by one of the major companies actually caused the formation of cancerous chemicals, which were not present in the original supply.

So, don’t drink bottled water or tap water.  Install a purifier and make your own, at home.  It’s cheaper, safer and more environmentally friendly.

To afford Green Techology Farmers need fair Prices Can they get a Fairer Deal from the Supermarkets?

To afford Green Techology Farmers need fair Prices Can they get a Fairer Deal from the Supermarkets?

    Copyright (c) 2010 Alison Withers

Control of more than 70% of the UK’s grocery market rests with the “big four” supermarket chains (Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda and Morrisons).

That means they are the most likely customers for overseas producers and it gives them enormous buying power. The ability to force down prices for farmers and farm workers comes with it.

Of course, consumers play their part by expecting to buy food cheaply and because it’s a cut-throat business the retailers respond.

These two stories from African and Costa Rica, or similar ones, will be familiar to many of us:

“I get 378 Rand [£32.50] pay every two weeks. I can’t afford school fees for my daughter or go to school functions or buy school uniforms” Tawana, a “permanent casual” labourer on a pear farm supplying Tesco (source ActionAid)

“They called us all to a meeting and they said that we would all be laid off the next day. Then they rehired us for almost half the wages.” – Costa Rican banana worker on a plantation supplying Tesco (source ActionAid)

The pressure on suppliers to deliver more for less is passed on to workers in the form of low wages, job insecurity and poor working conditions. Around the world, farm income is plummeting, pushing farmers off the land and into destitution.

Workers and farmers are not the only ones who are under pressure – food has to be processed, transported and in some cases packaged before it gets to the supermarket shelves.

Take the example of the price of a pack of cashew nuts – the price includes the shares of the farmer (15%), processing workers (1%) processing company (5%), transport/wastage (2%), UK importer (12%), roaster/salter company (20%) and finally Supermarkets (45%). (Information from ActionAid 2007)

It’s plainly an unbalanced and loaded trading relationship and as these figures demonstrate most of what we pay for food goes to the non-farmers in the chain.

According to an online report by Corporatewatch even in the UK farmers actually receive only 9p of every £1 spent on food by consumers.

The report shows that most of the money in the food system is going into the pockets of companies in the processing and retailing sectors, which are dominated by huge multinational food corporations like Unilever, Nestle and Altria (Kraft Foods) and the big supermarkets like Asda/Wal-Mart, Carrefour and Tesco.

It’s obvious that this model of food provision is unsustainable. It leads to imbalances such as the mountains of food that are thrown away or wasted in rich nations while people continue to starve across the rest of the planet because the centralisation of food sales through large retail units doesn’t account for need.

It also means small farmers across the world are under pressure to exploit their land to the maximum to compete with larger and more powerful global agribusinesses.

If the smaller farmers have no help, such as access to safe, natural biopesticides and yield enhancers, or the financial resources to buy them, or access to training in integrated pest management and sustainable farming methods, they face ruining the fertility of the land on which they depend for a living.

It’s a state of affairs that appals the CEO of one of the word’s largest companies researching and developing the new low-chem agricultural products such as biopesticides.

He says it is scandalous that in such a diverse and rich world so many people still suffer malnutrition and starvation and that lack of the ability to invest and of resources mean that many developing world farmers are faced with an unacceptable choice between producing enough food and draining their land of precious goodness in the effort to do so.

Yet it doesn’t have to be this way. In 2007 Tradecraft reported that the Co-op swapped all its ‘own brand’ chocolate to Fairtrade and saw its sales rise by 30% almost immediately

In January 2010 the possibility of creating a Supermarket Watchdog was raised again – more than two years after the Competition Commission advised that there was an urgent need to create a fair food chain for UK and overseas farmers, workers and consumers.

No matter who forms the next Government after the UK’s 2010 election, the question is whether the politicians will have the political will and the power to stand up to the power of the food industry’s supermarkets and powerful multinationals.

The Supermarkets and multinational food companies squeeze profits from farmers to an unsustainable level to provide us with cheap food. Consumer journalist Ali Withers argues that puts pressure on farmers to cut wages to farm workers and try to get more out of their land, without giving them the resources to farm sustainably to protect it or to buy the new biopesticides, biofungicides and yield enhancers that could help them.

Green Mobiles Will They Catch On?

Green Mobiles Will They Catch On?

Will green mobile phones truly catch on?  Will greener manufacturing processes develop so that every mobile phone is made from recycled materials or plastic bags?  Or is it just a well oiled fad in the history of mobile phone design.

I believe we are at the cusp of a new order, whereby the cost of looking for new resources from fields far away, could become so expensive that the digging for virgin raw materials for just a mobile phone could be outlawed; when the materials are so already readily available above ground.  With the all round cost of cradle to grave production rising and what with the Earth beginning to look like a garden with a family of gophers let loose in it, the use of recycled materials looks a good economic and sustainable resource choice to me.

But just how feasible, would it be to produce a billion plus greener handsets from recycled plastics.  Well in the UK alone we create 3 million tonnes of plastic waste a year, of which 56% is from waste packaging.  Part of that amount comes the 17.5 billion plastic bags that are given away by supermarkets in the UK and as a nation we are increasing our plastic use by 4% a year!  So the numbers are there.

Car manufacturers have to do it?  They are legislated to look for new ways to reduce their environmental impact. So how long will it be before the manufacturers of music systems, TV’s, computers, fridges, washing machines all follow suit and start to advertise that their units are made from recycled materials?  Could one imagine a future, where your guest presents their mobile phone to their friends at dinner parties proclaiming it doesn’t have recycled plastic parts – could this be a trophy phone?

At present, it’s possible that people see recycled plastic as second best, lower quality, not up to the mark, but the future of greener mobiles is the way forward.  With better designs, improved network offerings, more information about sustainability is paving the way for resource survival.

Mobile Phones suffered the same derisory comments when they entered the marketplace when they first appeared when people were so used to land-phones, now Mobiles out-number their landlocked counterpart.  Given time we can change to what’s best for us and the planet.  Once the benefits outweigh the issues at hand, the change will be easy.

A green mobile phone is just the start, its part of the way in reducing your personal carbon footprint.  Yes they are small steps towards a carbon free lifestyle, as recycling plastic makes major economic sense when you learn that it uses less energy and fewer resources.  Its all about the concept of change, when the first mobiles came out in 1983 (DynaTAC 8000x) it weighed 1.8 lbs.  The latest eco phone by Sony Ericcson weighs 120 grams?  So yes, like it or not greener phones by design, construction and the new moral attitude are the way forward and are certainly here to stay.

Digital Cameras – How They Work

Digital Cameras – How They Work

Digital cameras come in various sizes, shapes, and specifications and offer a variety of impressive features.

Digital cameras are quickly gaining popularity around the globe. Many people already own one and routinely use it for their own pictures. Their use have become part of the culture among many communities and industries.

Digital cameras also have become part of a broad package of combined features with other hand-held tools, such as PDA devices and cellular phones. This makes the use of both devices much more convenient, having them combined in one, rather than two or more, functional instruments.

Digital cameras, moreover, not only can be used for still photos as with conventional cameras, but also for taking videos. An owner needs only to upgrade the camera’s memory card to increase storage capacity.

The marketplace offers a number of digital camera brands that provide a wide range of features. Olympus, Canon, Nikon, Kodak, and HP are some of the better-known brands of cameras offering the conventional 35mm to digital. Other key camera manufacturers include Sony, Panasonic, and Casio.

    Digital Camera Considerations

Differing from conventional cameras, digital cameras have a small LCD screen, and sometimes an LCD screen plus viewfinder. The LCD screen is similar to TV screens that allow the photographer to see the picture, even before snapping it. Some have large screens that enable the photographer to see more of the subject and background.

Digital cameras also come with memory slots that hold a memory card or “stick.” The amount of memory available in them ranges from megabytes to gigabytes. Of course, the more memory, the greater the cost. However the extra storage capacity may be well worth the additional expense.

Another purchasing concern is the battery. Some digital cameras use disposable batteries. However, they wear out quickly, so most people recommend rechargeable batteries for longer energy life. Typically a rechargeable battery and a charger come in bundle with the camera unit.

Finally, consider the way the pictures are downloaded. Though many digital cameras come with a USB port which easily connects to a computer, there are others that necessitate removing the memory card and positioning it with a reader to download pictures.

    Digital Camera Features

Camera buyers should know at least the basic features of their camera of choice before making an expensive purchase. Though the snapping of pictures is fundamentally the same from camera-to-camera, there are features that make one brand more appealing than others.

For example, the number of mega pixels used when taking pictures – meaning millions of pixels that help with the clarity of the pictures – should be one of the primary considerations to most buyers. Pixels are the individual “dots” that make up the content of pictures.

As such, cameras offering a greater number of pixels can produce larger images with better resolutions than those with less. Be aware, though, that cameras using a more pixels consume more camera memory when storing the images.

The camera’s zoom function is also critical. Most digital cameras are enhanced with a two-zoom capability; the optical and digital. Optical zoom uses a moving lens and makes the subject in the picture appear closer, while digital zoom crops or stretches the image.

Finally, don’t neglect the importance of the camera case’s durability. Some digital cameras are made predominantly of plastic materials – and are consequently more fragile – while others are comprised of a combination of plastic and metal alloy.

Either type has limitations in the amount of jarring that can be sustained without internal damage. Spend a little extra money to purchase a case that will protect your camera investment.

Garden Accessories of the Future Are Green Walls – They Are Engaged, Self Sustaining, and Productive

Garden Accessories of the Future Are Green Walls – They Are Engaged, Self Sustaining, and Productive

A trend spotter, The Future Laboratory UK, has identified the garden of the future to be more engaging, self sustaining and productive than in the past. This trend is partly fuelled by the economic down turn but there is also a general desire to live more harmoniously with the environment. Organic living is no longer the domain of the unwashed. Meanwhile we are living in more confined spaces and have less access to our own private outdoors.

Garden accessories normally tend to lag behind social trends but remarkably there are some gardening products that have kept abreast of this social change and are accommodating the urban dweller’s desire to remain in touch with Mother Nature, despite the lack of space.

Gardening no longer requires an outdoor area; you do not even need free floor space. All you need is a vacant wall, enough light and a few Woolly Wally Pockets. The Pockets are a type of wall planter that allows most walls to become your very own vertical garden within a couple of hours.

Made from recycled plastic bottles the material conserves water. It also allows a plant’s root system to breath, thereby promoting healthy growth. But best of all it enables plants to be grown up a wall (without damaging the wall) and it is no more difficult to install than a book shelf. It is robust and looks great even before the plants have established.

Green walls, also known as living walls and vertical gardens were pioneered by Patric Blanc, a French botanist. He has made the vertical gardening concept famous. The advertising world is currently embracing his skills and engaging him to create various living billboards around the world. In fact London’s Athenaeum Hotel’s green wall has its very own Facebook Fan Page.

There have been various green wall systems developed in recent years in response to rising interest in this planting technique. Woolly Wally Pockets is one of the first systems that enables even the most basic gardener to construct a living wall without the need for specialist plant and green wall construction knowledge.

The living wall can be located indoors or outdoors and can be as small or as large as you wish. The wall planters come in three sizes and three colours to accommodate your

Are Plastic Water Bottles Eco Friendly and Can They Harm My Health?

Are Plastic Water Bottles Eco Friendly and Can They Harm My Health?

Are plastic water bottles eco friendly is a more and more common question today as we become aware of their impact on the environment and our health. Let me show you how.

If you can believe it, around 60,000,000 plastic bottles are used and discarded every single day in the US, adding to the already overflowing landfills full of toxic waste.

The sad fact is that the answer to, are plastic water bottles eco friendly is no. Only a few these days are as it costs more to manufacture them and therefore it lowers the company’s profits.

In addition, bottled water is no better for you than the tap variety, both being full of hundreds of toxic chemicals and often coming from the same source, yet costs anywhere from – a gallon for the privilege!

There are a few exceptional eco friendly plastic water bottles to be found, with the best being made of glass or a special stainless steel. You should ensure they are BPA free which means they will not leach out any chemicals into your water.

The best stainless steel ones have no chemical lining or plastic caps as these can still present an opportunity from chemicals to get into the contents. This is the problem that affects many of us today when we use ordinary plastic bottles.

The long term health effects are not fully known but it is not safe to leave any liquids sitting in your fridge or cupboards in a plastic container as the risks are too high and you are contributing to the landfill problems too.

The ultimate way to go is to install a home filtration system to remove all the harmful contaminants that exist in our supplies today and bottle your own healthy water for your trips out!

I always used to buy drinks out, especially for the kids and invariably in plastic bottles but now use glass bottles at home and chill them in the fridge ready to go out with.

It’s just simple and small changes to our habits that we need to do in order to become more earth friendly and promote our health as well. I hope I have helped to answer the question are plastic water bottles eco friendly and that you will try to only use eco friendly glass or stainless steel containers for the future.
